One-of-a-kind original album artwork proof of The Cars second album Candy-O signed by all five group members: Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes, Ric Ocasek (1944-2019), Ben Orr (1947-2000), and David Robinson. This is the album that cemented the group's reputation as innovative and cool New Wave stars. It featured the classic "Let's Go" and rose to #3 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart in 1979.
This framed album art proof has been floated on the matte to show all the details including registration marks etc. While it is likely that it was signed back when the album was being designed and released, all that is known for certain is that it was signed by Orr prior to 2000 given Orr's untimely passing that year.
The credits for the album artwork are: Jeff Albertson, photography; Ron Coro and Johnny Lee, art direction and design, David Robinson (The Cars), cover concept, and of course the famed "pin-up" style artist Alberto Vargas, who came out of retirement since his niece was a fan of The Cars to create the cover painting. Of course this is the back of the Candy-O album with the group's photos.
Items signed by all five members of The Cars are extremely rare and this is also a very special piece given this is also an album art proof. Includes Letter of Authenticity for the autographs from Roger Epperson (REAL).
Don't be fooled by other "signed" items on the Internet or in stores. Ask to see a COA/LOA from top authenticators like JSA (James Spence Authentication), PSA/DNA, Beckett, or REAL (Epperson). You'll find that most sellers won't be able to provide this.
