Released in 1987, her debut album charted in the U.S., UK and many other countries, receiving Gold certification in the U.S., UK, and Netherlands, and Platinum in Canada. She was nominated for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for the Grammy awards in 1988, and performed "Mandinka" on the show. Remember Sinéad O'Connor (1966-2023) with this piece.

Sinéad writes: "To Jerry, Love Sinéad" referring to Jerry Blair, who worked with O'Connor and many others in his time at Columbia Records and in artist management roles.
